Kojima Productions has confirmed two major details about PHYSINT: Bill Skarsgård will portray the game’s lead, and Xbox is its new publishing partner. The studio made the casting announcement on Sept. 17 during Xbox’s Tokyo Game Show broadcast.
The poster revealed with the announcement also features actor Charlee Fraser. Hideo Kojima said Skarsgård and Fraser took part in costume fittings, scans and camera tests earlier this year. Kojima Productions describes PHYSINT as an action-espionage game and its third original intellectual property.
The project was first introduced at the studio’s 10th anniversary event in Tokyo in September 2025. Skarsgård joins an ensemble that includes Fraser, Don Lee and Minami Hamabe, according to the studio. The latest announcement adds a lead performer, but offers few details about the story or gameplay.
What is confirmed — and what is still unknown
Xbox has confirmed it will publish PHYSINT. Kojima Productions says it is already working with Xbox on OD – KNOCK, and described the new partnership as an expansion of that relationship. The studio has not announced a release date, launch window, price or platform lineup for PHYSINT, so players should not read the publisher news as a confirmation of any specific console or storefront.
On Sept. 20, Kojima Productions addressed online reports about the change in publishing partner, calling the claims about its reasons “unsubstantiated speculation.” The studio said it was in a healthy, profitable state, that development was moving forward with Xbox, and that its relationship with PlayStation remained strong. The statement did not lay out the business terms or full timeline behind the publisher change.
